Terms & Conditions
Full terms and conditions for Lynn Cake Face Duffy are detailed below.
PRICES & DEPOSIT
Following your consultation/enquiry, your quote will be valid for 14 days. Receiving a quote does not hold your date nor does it confirm your order. Wedding dates may be held for 14 days, without payment of a non-refundable booking fee, on request. Paying your non-refundable booking fee secures your price and this slot in our diary. After 14 days please contact us for a new quote as quotes are changed regularly to reflect costs of ingredients.
Celebration cake orders require a £20 booking fee, cupcake orders require a £10 booking fee and wedding cake orders require a £50 booking fee at the time the order is placed to reserve your event date. By paying your booking fee it will be deemed that the terms and conditions are understood and accepted as applying to your order. Orders are only confirmed after the booking fee has been received.
If an order has been cancelled after a booking fee has been paid, we lose business from potential clients that were turned away to reserve your event date. Additionally, all our goods are custom made to order using perishable ingredients. For those reasons all booking fees and/or other payments made are non-refundable and non-transferable if an order is cancelled.
Booking fee payments can be made through bank transfer or by cash. The full balance for celebration cakes and cupcakes must be paid at the time of collection/delivery either by bank transfer or by cash. The full balance for wedding cakes must be paid 21 days prior to the event date either by bank transfer or by cash, or the order will be cancelled. If full payment is not received before cake collection/delivery then the order will not be released.
DESIGN & ALTERATIONS
Any design changes and alterations to the cake should be made in writing. If requested, we will endeavour to adjust the design where possible, but sometimes this is not possible due to the nature of the design and the amount of notice given. If the alterations affect the cost of the cake you will be notified and the balance adjusted. If you would like to cancel the order due to us not being able to accommodate design changes, you will forfeit your booking fee and any payments made to us.
To respect other cake makers designs, we cannot make an exact copy of cakes. We will use any pictures given as inspiration.
Each cake is made individually by hand, so although every effort is made to ensure consistency, a small amount of variation may occur from the design requested/picture supplied. All colours are hand mixed and therefore a small amount of variation may occur from the design/picture supplied.
FLAVOURINGS
Due to the potential instability of buttercream, we use white chocolate ganache as a base for fondant cakes. This give a firmer base when applying fondant giving a smoother finish and is less prone to melting and to the cake layers bulging. It is advised that for lighter coloured fondant cakes that white chocolate ganache be used, as darker chocolate may show through the light-coloured fondant.
When cutting cakes, particularly with chocolate ganache, please cut the cake with a sharp, hot knife cleaning the knife in between each cut. This will ensure a clean, neat slice. If you are unsure about how to cut the cake to ensure you get the correct number of servings, then please contact us and we will send over our cutting guides.
VIEWING
We work as closely to the event date as possible to complete the cake to ensure the freshness. This does mean that you are not able to view your cake prior to collection or delivery. We may, on request when possible, send pictures of finished cakes. Please note that for freshness, some cakes will not be finished until an hour before collection or delivery. Pictures will not be able to be sent on larger tiered cakes, as these are delivered separately and stacked and finished at the event location.
DELIVERY & COLLECTION
Cakes can be collected from the premises at a mutually agreed date and time (half hour window). Your cake will not be ready for collection if you show up before this agreed time. Please notify us as soon as possible if you will be late for collection as we may not be able to accommodate, if we cannot another date and time will be arranged.
Cake prices do not include delivery charges. The delivery charge will be quoted on request and is calculated on a mileage, parking fees and time basis.

Occasionally larger tiered cakes must be set up at the venue and therefore cannot be collected from us and have to be delivered, this will occur a charge.
Please inspect your cake carefully during collection or delivery to ensure that you are pleased with it and so that any problems can be dealt with immediately. The client will assume all liability and responsibility for the condition of the cake once inspected and the client confirms they are happy with condition.
We are no longer responsible for the cake once the client received the cake.
Cakes should not be transported on a car seat or a person’s knee/lap as they are not level and could cause damage to the cake. The cake should be transported on a flat level surface, preferably the empty boot of a car with non-slip matting underneath. If this matting is required please request this before collection.
Please be aware that cakes are quite heavy and that an appropriate person is there to move the cakes from our premises. Please ensure that you are able to move the cake from our premises, such as bringing animals (as not animals are allowed inside our premises due to family allergies), not carrying shopping bags or carrying children, as we may not always be able to help move the cake. You will also have to ensure that you can come onto our premises to inspect your cake, pay your balance, receive advice on transport, storage and inedible items. If we help move the cakes, we accept no responsibility for any damage while helping.
Cakes should be handled carefully as they are fragile and can easily be damaged. Your cake will be boxed and wrapped to prevent damaged from environmental factors, such as rain or dust. It is your responsibility to lift and handle the box with care and store it in a safe place.
ALLEGRY ADVICE
Our products may contain or come in contact with milk or milk products, wheat, nuts, soy and other allergens therefore we cannot guarantee a nut free environment. You agree to notify your guests of this risk and we are not liable to any allergic reactions.
STORAGE & CONSUMPTION
Fondant cakes are not to be refrigerated and should be stored in a cold dry place away from sunlight or a heat source, preferably in the box they were supplied in.
It is not advised to store the cake in places such as a garage, conservatory, kitchen or car where it could become susceptible to steam, condensation and environmental odours. These conditions and refrigeration may cause changes to the texture and taste of the cake, may cause colours to run and may damage decorations.
Our figures/decorations may contain wooden skewers, cocktail picks or florist wires to give the figure/decoration support. Therefore, they are not edible and should be removed before serving the cake. You will be notified on collection/delivery which decorations must be removed before serving.
Plastic or wooden cake dowels will be inserted into each layer for tiered or tall cakes for stability, they should be removed before serving the cake.
Your cake is baked to ensure it is fresh for the date of your event, we cannot guarantee its quality if it is consumed 24 hours after your event. Our cakes are made entirely of natural ingredients, so because of this they will not have the extended shelf life of most supermarket cakes, which contain additives and preservatives to ensure their prolonged life.
Freezing the cake preserves the taste of the sponge as much as possible, but please bear in mind that it will affect the visual appearance of the icing, as condensation will form upon defrosting. Food hygiene recommendations recommend that food should only be frozen for a maximum of 3 months.
Portion guides are intended as a guide only. This will vary dependant on how the cake is cut.
HIRE OF CAKE STANDS / ACCESSORIES
If you would like to hire a cake stand or decorations, then a cash deposit is required prior to release. Deposit amounts vary and are dependent on the value of the item being hired. Please make arrangements to ensure items hired are safely returned to us within 5 days of the event date. Once we receive the hire item back, we will release the deposit held subject to no damage. Prior to release of the items, they will be mutually inspected and signed for, once returned the will be mutually inspected again for any damage before deposit is returned. Late return of items will forfeit any deposit.
FLOWERS
If your cake requires fresh flowers, then these are not included in the price. We can work with your florist but expect you to make all the necessary arrangements with the florist. It is your responsibility to ensure that the flowers used are food safe and are allowed to come into contact with the cake. Please note that we are not responsible for any problems with your fresh flowers. We cannot take responsibility for any damage rendered to the cake caused by a floral arrangement implemented by your florist. If fresh flowers are being used, the cake will be set-up at late as possible to ensure freshness throughout the day. Depending on the varieties and weather conditions at the time, it may be necessary to cut the cake early on at the event to ensure their freshness for photography.
COMPLAINTS
If you have a concern about your cake, please notify us upon collection/delivery of the cake so that we have the opportunity to rectify it in time for your event.
If you are unsatisfied in any way please contact us in writing no later than 24 hours after your event date. If contacted after this then no refunds will be given.
In order to fairly assess the nature of the complaint, a large portion of the cake will have to be returned to us within 2 days of the event date, plus any photographic evidence. Full refunds will not be given for a cake that has been consumed or partially consumed regardless of the dispute, as consumption of the cake is acceptance that the cake is adequate for purpose for which the cake has been supplied.
For a full refund the entire cake must be returned to us within 2 days of your event date. Just having photographs as evidence of the cake complaint will not be suitable to assess the complaint and therefore will not be accepted and no refunds will be given on this basis. The complaint will be evaluated carefully and any refund is at our discretion. The maximum refund we will offer at any time depending on the outcome of our assessment, will be the cost of the cake. No further compensation will be offered. No refunds are given due to change of mind. In the unlikely event of late delivery (30 minutes after the agreed time), the maximum compensation will be a full refund of the delivery price. We ask for patience for factors that are out with our control (e.g adverse weather, traffic conditions).

We reserve the right to photograph your cake order before delivery/collection for our own reference. We will not post any photos on social media until after the event. All our cakes that are delivered will be photographed from different angles to show the quality of the cake, surroundings and placement of the cake.
